Calculate tidal current?

Is there a formula for calculating a tidal current? I sail out of Baltimore/near Fort McHenry. Usually the tides are about .3 meters.

You can find these easily from several websites, including NOAA. Just Google, "tides and currents chesapeake bay".

Also, many charting programs automatically calculate tidal currents.

Current models are quite complicated and highly dependent on the local geography. There is no simple formula that applies everywhere. NOAA current tables provide simple way to predict current at a particular location, based on more accurate predictions at a reference station. See, for example, Tidal Current Predictions - NOAA Tides & Currents for current tables for Baltimore Harbor approaches.

Re: Calculate tidal current?

There are examples in the Atlantic tidal current tables using tables and interpolation.
