BSB Import . . . Any Users Out There ?

I was looking for something that'd allow a double-click or allow a drag-onto to open and view a Kap chart file . R.Fairman suggested this plug-in for Adobe.
Indeed,it works but it's shareware-20$.
I can't find any reviews to see if it's worth that .T'would seem handy for those with the cash flow. Can anyone out there that can give a quick review?Does it save an edited kap?

...but only if I browse to it or it's registered in SeaClears "List"...?I was wanting click-hold-and-drag onto or double-click a kap and it pops open...SeaClear just opens up the last used chart even when associated to kaps.Likewise MapCal_2.
It was just for a quickie test to look at the kaps I've been making,or already have. I've been trying this BSBimport Plugin for Adobe and it WILL act as wanted but haven't yet decided if I'll use it enough to pay to uncripple it.Because uncrippling it should allow editing as a tif in adobe and then I could make that into a new kap.I have other ways to do all this ...except the fast looksee.

SeaClear opens up ANY .kap you care to mention,INSTANTLY!
go to File,Chart and Not listed and select your chart from ANY directory.
Could'nt be easier.... I use it all the time to control any new conversion
for validity.

You're not reading their posts. They are very clearly stating that they want to be able to double-click on the .kap from Windows Explorer and have the chart view come up. They don't want to have to fire up a program, choose File, chart, etc., do 4-5 clicks to do something that should be able to be done with one double-click.

Just like you double click on a .bmp and it comes up in paint, gimp, or whatever you have it associated with.

I understand what they are asking for and would like to know if they come up with something. I'd like it, too.

A 'Look,no hands!' function huh? Well......

Does anyone know how to register SeaClearII as default program on Microsoft Vista for .kap files?

Would it be possible to set up the PATH and PathText in the Systems menu to start SeaClear by default whenever a 'name.kap' file was clicked? Like you click any bitmap file name and it starts up your favourite utility.

Tore
Yes,that's what's wanted.-sorry if my writing is turgidly corpuscular!!!
Dacust said it plainer.
But,Sinbad, here's what SeaClear does given the "association" as we XP ers might call it.Hopefully we are talking about the same thing. You have W7?It's a little different?

If Seaclear is "associated" to kaps this is what happens:
I double click a kap chart ...
Seaclear starts.
Hurray.
Except it's not showing the kap chart that I double-clicked!
-it's showing the last used one ....or whichever is listed in its "ini" file?

Likewise with several other programs I've tried.Even a real oldie ,NDIViewer ,which should do this,(because it doesn't do anything else except show charts) won't.OziExplorer happily opens any double-clicked map file but not kaps.

BSBimport plugin is the only app I've tried that works.Double click a kap and Adobe Elements opens up with the double-clicked chart seen....

HappySeagull..

I have Photoshop and the BSBplugin on my XP desktop but it does not automatically start a randomly selected .kap file. Starting Photoshop and then selecting the .kap chart directory takea a long time. SeaClear does it is seconds. Try it!

If the BSBPlugin is installed (I'm not sure why it's on your desktop?)...

In XP-can't say about W7-,right click the kap file,(not bsbs!)choose "open with,choose program,Adobe,"

Will work.
Unfortunately,until I pay,I get the shareware dialogue on top.But I see,it will work.

The BSBPlug-in is installed on my other computer running XP (desktop not laptop

If it need you to click the file and then select which program, you may as well use the
free SeaClear with a couple of clicks.. The Photoshop plug-in cost $ 20-30.-

OK get your point,BUT,first you have to pay a BIG price for your Photoshop.
Fine if you already own it,like you and I.

Keep looking for a cheaper solution!
