B&G Zeus 2 not compatible with Navionics Sonar Charts?
I recently purchased the Navionics Platinum+ charts and I don't seem to have an option on my chart plotter to view the sonar charts.
I updated the maps this morning online and still no luck.
Am I missing something?

Re: B&G Zeus 2 not compatible with Navionics Sonar Charts?
I also thought my chart plotter might need to be updated.
Nope... It currently has the latest firmware installed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: B&G Zeus 2 not compatible with Navionics Sonar Charts?
According to this chart, it should be compatible:
http://www.navionics.com/sites/defau...ilityguide.pdf
And you are sure that software for the chartplotter has been updated? I have a Zeus2, but I went with the C-Map charts. When they came out with 2016 version charts, it required the Zeus2 software update be done to get to all of the features on the new chart chip (like aerial photos, marina info, etc.). Just make sure your chartplotter software has been updated. My unit new from West Marine needed update, even though it was new stock.
If I remember correctly, I inserted the chart chip into the plotter, turned it on, and after startup it asked whether to use the charts on the chip (or default to the imbedded charts). It asks that question every time during the startup sequence.

Oh, and what are you referring to as "sonar charts"? Is that same as the GPS chart annotated with water depth contours?

This is what Sonar charts look like:
I am 100% sure my chart plotter is updated. The dealer that installed mine must have updated it.

Do you switch from regular charts to sonar charts or do the depth contours show all the time?

Re: B&G Zeus 2 not compatible with Navionics Sonar Charts?
Every time I turn on my Zeus2 it asks whether I want to use the charts on the chip, or to default to the imbedded charts. If you are not getting that, then it's not recognizing your chip.
You can check to see if the software version on Zeus2 is the same as version posted on B&G website. That's 100%.
What did Navionics say?

I think all of the map displays have depth contours.

Re: B&G Zeus 2 not compatible with Navionics Sonar Charts?
It works on my old Zeus which is not a 2, so Id imagine it should on yours.
As ridiculous as this sounds I did have an initial issue with it reading the chip, I had it inserted, but not enough, on mine you have to use your finger nail or something to push the chip really deep, then it springs back a little and if you listen and its quiet, you can hear a click. I wasn't pushing in far enough and getting that click.
I do not know if a Zeus 2 is like this though.

Yep, Zeus2 you have to push in fully, and then it pops

Springs out a little, and is held there. To get back out, push in a bit and then it springs out further.

Re: B&G Zeus 2 not compatible with Navionics Sonar Charts?
Epiic, do you have depth contours on any of your map displays? Even without the chip, the base maps loaded onto the plotter should have some depth detail. Just not as much detail as the chip.

Re: B&G Zeus 2 not compatible with Navionics Sonar Charts?
I purchased a Navionics chip and it would work about 1/50 times I inserted it in my Simrad nss8. It worked every time I plugged it into a demo plotter at a marine store. Thought it was my plotter but after going back and forth with Simrad and Navionics I got a replacement chip fro Navionics and problem solve so it was the chip after all.

Re: B&G Zeus 2 not compatible with Navionics Sonar Charts?
Turning on the Sonar charts is not intuitive. I didn't think I could view them on my NNS series until I got a email from Navionics during the summer telling me how to view them. I can't remember exactly and the unit is in winter storage, but it was one of the drop down menus such as Chart Options. It didn't say Sonar Charts either but something else. Try emailing Navionics and ask them. They seem pretty good at returning emails.
