Anyone have experience with MacENC?

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with MacENC Nav Software for the MAC. Good or Bad....

Thanks. - Michael

The last time I used this software was about 25 minutes ago.

I have traveled from NYC to Downeast Maine and this month from Key Largo to SC using it as my primary navigation tool.

I have posted several comments on this site about the software (a search will find them for you).

Also... the support is like nothing I've ever seen before. Questions are answered viam email in minutes, not days. I even pasted in some email headers in one of my comments on the software on this board showing the number of minutes they took to respond to my question.

The question isn't if you should get it... it's "why haven't you already ordered it?"

It works flawlessly.

MacENC works great. Best there is for Mac (in my opinion).

FYI for other readers:

MacENC reads NOAA ENC Vector charts with seamless quilting. Also Overlays BSB Raster charts. Best of both worlds.

Go here for a free trial before you buy it...

macenc.com

GPSNavX (same company) reads only BSB Raster charts. The charts are quilted but you need to open them yourself (shows bounds).

Free trial on this one too...

GPSNavX™ - Marine Navigation & Charting Application for OS X

Make sure you have a decent speed Mac to run MacENC. Slower macs run GPSNavX better.

Tech support sent me this link to figure out Mac speed (yes, tech support is amazing. You can email and get instant replies or use iChat for even faster service). They said a Mac with a 2000 or higher score runs ENC best. I have run it on a Mac that only scored 300. So it does work, it's just even better on a fast Mac.

Thank you everyone for easing my mind. I will give it a shot.

BTW - I did not know there was a search feature on the forum...very handy. Thanks for pointing that out to me also.
