Anyone ever go into Glovers Atoll? Especially on the North end of the island chain? especially in cut. Next to Glovers Atoll Resort?

We vacationed there a couple of times and have seen a 50ish schooner in there.

Yes, Glovers is an awesome place. N entrance lots of eyeball nav - forget charts and waypoints except for the approach. S entrance easier. Only 14nm from Tobacco Cut (major cut in barrier reef).

I usually come in on the S end and anchor on the sand flats near MariSol dive resort. Nice little bar over the water there. Several good snorkel spots nearby inside the lagoon. Full service dive shop at MariSol if you want to do some diving...which is great on the outside edge of the atoll.

Was the schooner all white wooden and very traditional looking?

Very traditional for sure. They had two deck apes up in the spreaders going out.

Yes, eyeballs high in the rigging are much better than charts in that area.

The boat could have been the Salisbury's. Very interesting couple who've lived in Belize since 1972. See About Christina Salisbury.

Also, if anyone is interested, I have a lot of accumulated notes on navigation in Belize and the NW Carib. Still in rough form and intended to be supplemental to Freya's guide.
Just PM me your email address if interested.

This is a chart I created with GE2KAP. You can see my track as I went through the pass. The Belize Yatch Club (BYC) is marked.
