anchorAGES AT PEANUT ISLEAND gRAND bAHAMAS

we ARE HEADING SOUTH FROM Georgia WITH A STOP AT PEANUT ISLAND AREA. With all the construction there doesn't look like you can anchor anywhere near the inlet. Is there a place? In the Grand Bahamas there was reported an anchorage East of West End at a not built mega resort. Can you still anchor there. Any help appreciated.

Anchor in Lake Worth just west of the yacht club.

Coming south on ICW after Riviera Beach head out the inlet. Turn right along Palm Beach island. Head south you'll see the yacht club head west anchor in 10 ft. Good holding. Some current.

Also good anchorage on the north end of Lake Worth in front of Old Port Cove.

Due to hurricane damage, no power at the docks and no hot water in the showers the marina at West End (Old Bahama Bay) is half price for slips. $1.00/ft per night for daily rate.

Quite a few old moorings here, especially in the west end of the anchorage. I have fouled my anchor there. If I anchor there now I keep to the east end. It's a good anchorage if you don't hook one of those old mooring blocks.

Thanks for all the good info. Still interested in knowing info on anchoring at the development about 3 miles east of West end.

When leaving from Palm Beach we anchor just south of the inlet on the east side, and we usually bypass west end and anchor at Mangrove Cay or Great Sale.

Vasco: I feel a little stupid. I can't find the Yacht Club if I go out the inlet and turn right and head South. My chart plotter shows the yacht club off the ICW not off the Atlantic. Would you be kind enough to post the lat and long of the anchorage.. I am only 79 and have been doing this for too long. Thanks

I boat around there literally almost every weekend. Anchor just south of the inlet in lake worth lagoon. It's an easy inlet to navigate in early morning.

For clarity I should have said head toward the inlet in the inlet channel and turn right along the west shore of Palm Beach Island. Don't go out the inlet, you will see another channel well before the jetties.
