Alligator and pungo river

I am traveling from elizabeth city nc to washington nc and wan to know if canal is open should I just go around? I read swing bridge is closed on canal

There are two fixed bridges on the Alligator-Pungo Canal (65’ and 64’ vert clearance), plus a swing bridge at the mouth of the Alligator R., closed clearance 14’).
