My MacENC nav software broadcasts all the data, AIS included, to the iPhone. Cheap. Simple.

Well...mainly so I don't have to set my cocktail down and walk to the chartplotter just to check some little thing.

Oooo, cool yer jets mate. The iPhone tells me about the rocks and the ships. What has me worried all the time are the logs washed to sea from the Borneo rainforests. Very hard to spot during the day. Impossible at night. I trim the sails for slow.

Tip for the AIS folks: Some months back I ran a photo on CF of the kind of ship that does not have AIS. In a word: big.
