Active Captain - HELP!

I am getting ready to head south for the winter and when I started to update Active Captain on all of my devices I get "Unable to connect to Active Captain hose" on all of my charting apps that support Active Captain. Polarview is the one that I use most and I really need to update it for the trip.
In his last newsletter Jeffery said something about having to log in with a new Garmin username and password, but I can't find anywhere to do that. All of my apps have my old Active Captain username and password in them and won't let me change them.
I went through all of the help stuff applying to Active Captain on the Garmin website, but all they talk about is Garmin products.
It figures - you have a nice little company that is working well, you sell it to a big corporation and it all goes to crap!
Can anyone help?

Al, S/V Finlandia

Re: Active Captain - HELP!

Stu
Thanks for the quick reply, but I never used the eboat card feature in Active Captain and don't know where to find it or sign up for it (if I now have to to use Active Captain). I looked on the Active Captain website but didn't see any reference to eboat card.

Re: Active Captain - HELP!

Help. Need to download an App so I can use my iPad with my Garmin 7612xvs chart plotter.
When I search App store (as instructed) the Garmin Bluechart Mobile App does not turn up. Nor does ActiveCaptain App. - using the marina wifi here in Panama
When I search App store with the Garmin chart plotter turned on on the boat, says the App store is temporarily unavailable.
No luck on Garmin's website - except go to App store....

Re: Active Captain - HELP!

I have used a decent Shipyard in Apalachicola Florida. They are not spotted on Active Captain.

I can not figure out how to add this place and its location.

Advice would be appreciated.

Thx

Re: Active Captain - HELP!

While we are on the subject of Active Captain, ever since the changeover, it will not save the last location and my map choice (satellite) when I exit. It starts out with a world map.

How can I fix this? (We're talking about using it on a computer, not a phone).

Re: Active Captain - HELP!

I echo the worries of the first poster. I ran into the same issue on Thursday and mindlessly followed a Garmin tech support article that suggested to uninstall then reinstall the BlueChart Mobile app....only to find out that the app was no longer offered in the App Store. After a bit of panic (did I mention this was 2 nights before I was taking off down the ICW 200+ miles?) I was able to restore previous purchases and get the app back but still unable to update the charts.

I tried to install the Garmin ActiveCaptain app but it wouldn’t let me download any charts unless I entered a serial number for a Garmin chart plotter...useless since my iPad is my primary navigation tool and don’t own a chart plotter. My concern is Garmin is going the route of requiring you to also purchase one of their chartplotters to get usability on an iPad. Even more concerning was that looking at the chart prices, they’re going for $100’s vs roughly $50 for one of the updates for iPad versions previously. I sent an email to Gamin, will see what their response is.

Re: Active Captain - HELP!

This summer I tried to use the weather feature on my iPad with Garmin BlueChart mobile and ac. Would not load weather. I contacted Garmin and they said there were interface problems with the iPad that they were working on......something to do with new software for iPad. Weather radar did start working but does not show future view on radar.... not very happy.......

Fortunately, there are lots of apps that show weather radar overlaid on a chart

Re: Active Captain - HELP!

After giving them a couple of weeks or more to get things ironed out, I went onto the site today and attempted to log on for the first time since the sale. I have of course, forgotten my password, so I used the "forgot my Password" link. They sent me an email, and I clicked on the link in the email, and got the following error:

"An error occurred in the registration SERVER" (capitalization theirs).

I may give it another try in another month. Can't decide if not having activecaptain would be a loss.

Also noticed that link Jeff provided in one of his last weekly newsletters (explaining the changes to come) now returns a "Page could not be found" error.
