Abaco, Bahamas, Danger In Passes and Cuts

For at least the next week, almost any cut or pass in the Abacos that is north or northeast facing will be too dangerous to use. Very large northeasterly swells from a gale system far offshore will create a dangerous situation especially in places like Whale Cay Pass. Boaters should closely monitor this situation and avoid moving through these cuts and passages until the seas subsides. Chuck

They call them "Rages," and you can see why if you are there. One time I was there a PDQ 32 catamaran was flipped in Whale Cay Passage.
