2 versions of maxsea for ipad on app store

Two Versions of TimeZero.

What is the difference between the iPad apps:

1. MaxSea TimeZero Marine Navigation
2. Nobeltec TimeZero Marine Navigation

The interfaces looks difference and there are different open sequences.

What are the other difference and is one better than the other?

Thank you.

Re: 2 versions of maxsea for ipad on app store

If I read you correctly there are 2 apps with the words Time Zero in the name, not 2 versions of Max Sea. Does that answer your question?

Re: 2 versions of maxsea for ipad on app store

Let me restate my question: Are there any other differences between the two apps besides the look of the user interface and how the maps are added and managed?

And is one company better to deal with from North America than the other?
Thanks.

I found this on the subject:

MaxSea Time Zero vs Nobeltec Navigation Programs - General Yachting Discussion | YachtForums: We Know Big Boats!

Nobeltec is US based I think, Maxsea is in France for sure.

Thank you sailormed. In my experience, when two companies use the same technology, one is the innovator and the other is a repackager. I and wondering which is the innovator?

There are more then 2 companies using this technology, afterall aren't we talking about using GPS positioning in combination with position presentation on a map?

For me Timezero is a product name, not a technology. But maybe I am wrong.

It's difficult to be sure but searching does suggest that TZ is a MaxSea product sold by Nobeltec in the US. As has been pointed out MaxSea and its main offerings are French so it makes sense for them to get someone like Nobeltec for support in the US and other anglophone markets.

Re: 2 versions of maxsea for ipad on app store

Received the following from Nobeltec:

Hi Lloyd,

Any differences between the Nobeltec and Maxsea versions are purely cosmetic. Underneath, they are the same app. The reason for the two apps is simply that Nobeltec has more brand recognition in the US, and Maxsea is more familiar to customers in Europe.

Sincerely,
The TIMEZERO Support Team
