Yes, but they have down graded the steel to the 'new acceptable' as opposed to what was originally speced in the NZ and Canadian ones.

Dont forget old mates - Oceon Solution and Don from Half Moon Bay Chandlery.
They both put in there own time and effort , with exceptional correspondence. Their service alone deserves recommendation.

Anything made in China is a POS Does not matter if it is made of Gold and has a lifetime warranty! I will spend as much as necessary to not buy from that corrupt shameless country and consider anyone who buys there as a traitor to there own country or to humanity!

Re: WELL DONE ROCNA
GEEZ, how few years ago was it when ROCNA RULED? And then poop happened.
The Rocna story reminds me of a conversation I once had with a senior manager with a Massachusetts major defense manufacturer. His story was that a company in many ways resembles a tree. It requires constant attention when first planted, it takes years with nourishment to grow but it can be quickly killed by abuse. Yes--- once Rocna did rule, now I hope it continues to avoid the chipper.

Interesting observation but not in my experience. I am in the chemical import/export business and in the last 20 years have imported many millions of dollars worth of chemicals from China.
A lot of what they make is low grade but low price but there are also some chemicals from China that are as good or better than any comparable products in the world.
My biggest complaint is that in the huge majority of the time a "contract" with a supplier in China is worth absolutely zero. If the market changes and prices for a product increase your either pay the new price or get no product. Doesn't matter what kind of agreement you have or how long you have been doing business with the supplier. I've seen the happen even to the big guys, as in one of the top five largest chemical companies in the world. You don't like it try suing someone in China.

Re: Well Done Rocna
As another data point, I had a similar experience with Rocna... bought my 25kg in 2010 and in 2011 noticed a slight (and I mean slight) bend in the shank of my anchor after 4 days of 180 degrees tide swings in 4-6 knots of current. I contacted Rocna and within two days received instructions to return the anchor to the local supplier and I received a new replacement when I dropped off the old one. Was a clean and easy process and they definitely stood behind their product.

How do you recognise which versions are the dodgy ones? I took a look around the marina the other day and saw a nicely galvanised Rocna with good chamfered edges on the shank, but it had the cast Rocna label on the fluke. I also saw another without the cast name but it had sharp unbeveled edges and the gavanising was poor and already failing. What quality are the latest ones?

Re: Well Done Rocna
Mate
Its good to know you got your replacement anchor from Ocean Solutions and all credit to them. You are particularly lucky as yours is RINA approved or that is how I read their website:
www.oceansolutions.com.au
Its a pleasure to hear of a company that stands by its customers and provides a full and honest service.

Re: Well Done Rocna
Sounds like to get the best peace of mind is to DIY. Differential hardening for hard cutting edges yet tough flukes and shank. Just a funny shaped sword...and galvanised.
Thanks BriaF...will look online, as I don't subscribe and the local library doesn't hold it. I guess running a file across the steel would be the easiest test of hardness. Say, I wonder if Bisalloy would be a good anchor steel...it work hardens in a heartbeat.
