Re-galvanising Spade

I have a friend with a rusty spade, I have suggested having it re-galvanised, but he feels this is not possible. Unfortunatly the reson why got lost in translation.

The lead is encapsulated and should survive OK. Has anyone hade a steel spade re-galvanised and was it OK?

I knew a boater who lost the lead in his Spade when they re-galvanized. He filled with concrete instead, I think, and it still worked. Lovely anchors, those Spades.......

Wire brush and use Cold Galvanized Spray they sell it almost everywhere even west Pirate and lowes looks pretty good for a while and then just do again ! works for me

I have tried that ands its never held up very long. Anchoring nearly 365 days a year is tough on equipment and the hard sand around here probably contributes.
I also understand some galvanisers will reject steel with lots of paint, which means you may have a lot of work if you subsequently decide to galvanise.

You can actually buy "refurbished" anchors from spade anchors usa that have been regalvanized. They no longer come apart but otherwise they work fine. Sorry, I don't know whether they have to do anything special to do this.

We just finished up with the SW Boat Show in Houston and Spade Anchors were there, they have a new kit for touching up the rust, with epoxy paint, you might want to look into it.
Although you could just get a Mantus
