This is just a quick note in case someone in the future finds themselves in our recent predicament. We have an old (20 years?)
Goiot windlass that at some point was fitted with a Quick 1400W
motor. Same
motor they use in their DP3 series
windlass. From manual pictures I suspect they use the same
brushes in other motors but can only verify the 1400W version.
That motor itself is getting a little long in the tooth, the motor
brushes were down to nubs. Quick wanted $100 for a set of four, which was just too dear - and they weren't in stock.
Research turned up Bosch 1007014100. I've found them at $3 to $12/set. They're 9x13x25.5mm, copper-carbon starter brushes originally for Bosch JD starters. 32mm leads with flag terminals, they're an exact match for the ones from Quick. The Bosch version itself seems to be discontinued but they (or their aftermarket equivalent) are still available with a minimum of legwork.
Just
posting so that if someone ever Google's "Quick Windlass Motor Brushes" something will turn up.
