Pool Navy Anchor - Balanced vs Unbalanced

does anyone know what the difference is between an unbalanced and a balanced Navy anchor?

When would a balanced be used and when would an unbalanced be used?

Wow, this seems to be either a tough question or a question that has no interest or maybe relevance.

Are there any NA's that can reply?

Thanks

Hey, it's late so I'm just gonna give the link if I can get it to go on here. It's in a PDF file, but I've been there lots and it has no virus or anything. You should be able to learn about the differences here. http://compass.seacadets.org/pdf/nrtc/sn/14067_ch4.pdf
Hope that works.

Re: Pool Navy Anchor - Balanced vs Unbalanced

From what I can remember from my visit to one of the biggest manufacturers of ships anchors in China the balanced model is easier to stow in the bow recess and slots in when you bring it up. The unbalanced obviously tilts outwards and can lock outside the anchor recess.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, nothing in the document explains it.

I think; like Grant; that it has something to do with the anchor pockets.
