Muir Cougar Electric Windlass dis-assembly?

I need to replace the electric motor in my Muir windlass. I was able to download a .pdf manual but it doesn't give me enough info as to how to pull the motor assembly unit out of the windlass. Anyone have some advice?

Thanks,

Kevin

Re: Muir Cougar Electric Windlass dis-assembly?

Oddly enough I’ve just done this.

Take the bolt off the side of the capstan and disassemble the capstan side completely. In theory the shaft will then push through to the other side. In practice I had to take it to a shop with a ‘press’ and gently push it out as it had ten years of dried out grease. Once the shaft is out then the motor just falls out.
