Over time do they pull out with constant load and water action ?
Do we install ourselves ?
We have to have it surveyed annually do you have people you would recommend here ?
Sorry for all the questions, we have to have it approved here and these are the questions they will ask me.
Thanks
Dave
1. I do not know. You will need to contact them directly. In the USA we have no problems with any Harbor Masters, or City municipalities regarding safety or permit issues.
2. They will not ever pull out. Due to the hollow design once installed it fills up with the seabed and becomes a part of the seabed. If you want to move the Skrew Mooring it requires that water is pumped/hosed in to the hollow tube area as it is unscrewed from the seabed.
3. You can install yourself or with a hired diver. A simple "poke" test of the area before the install (metal rod poked into ground) , then screw it down. The largest size takes 45-60 minutes, the smallest takes about 5 minutes to install.
4. We have no dealers available in Australia to do the surveying. All orders in Australia are shipped directly from our home office in France.

Please ask questions!
Thank you.
Sounds good, I'm just nervous of the process to have them approved.
Do you have any specific data that I can present to the authorities here. Are there any that you know of here in Queensland that I could use as a reference.

I do not have any specific data regarding installs of the Skrew mooring in Queensland.
The only specific data that I have are measurements of the Skrew Moorings and the Skrew Mooring work loads. Please let me know if you need any of that info.
Seems like pretty thin wall. How long do they last in tropics. Also, they are much shorter than the ones being used in mooring fields around Florida which are solid square bar also.

Looks like an OK idea for fresh water lakes
The Skrew Moorings are fresh and salt water approved. We currently have a Skrew Mooring that has been under Salt water for 9 years, with no signs of failure. We remove this Skrew yearly to inspect.
The Skrew Moorings are hollow so that they fill with the seabed. If you were to take a piece of solid re bar, poke into the ground, wiggle it, it will come right out. If you take the same sized hollow metal rod, poke it into the ground and allow it to fill with dirt it is tremendously harder to remove when compared to the solid re bar.
We have installed thousands though out Florida as we are based in Florida. Our disks have a larger diameter and our Skrew Moorings are one solid piece ( no hinge ) making them more robust than most competitors that just make them longer to compensate.

Yes please if you could forward any detail that you think might help YOU get approval here.
Hi Dave, wondering if you had any luck in getting a mooring installed and which way you went with if so? I’m presently looking at getting a mooring off Macleay Island. Cheers

Hi Brett
Yes I had a screw in type fitted by Waters Marine GC, I had them fit the longest one with the cross plates on top to help stop it pulling over, the screw is also attached to a 1m^3 concrete block that was already there. The Gold Coast Waterways conducted testing of a number of types of moorings and the guy who conducted the 3 year testing said these were by far the best. The line from the screw to the chain is like a bungy cord to reduce shock and is eco freindly. I'm not prepared to recommend him, the work was done properly but it was late, next week, next week, next week....etc... and he charged more than the agreed price and didnt place it exactly where I asked him to.
Having said all that, there aren't many choices out there.
