Manson or Rocna
Would anybody know where one might be able to get a good deal on a new Manson or Rocna Anchor. Looking for a 20 kg.
Can get one here in canada for 395.00. ( Rocna).
I am heading to the USA next week and thought I might be able to purchase there for less.
Rocna or Manson supreme, which one should one buy???
fletch
I would take a used one also.

Re: Manson or rocna
Manson is less expensive and better. Do a search on here to find threads with hundreds of posts about why that is.
There are virtually no new generation anchors on the used market because everybody just bought them. Exception might be Fortress because they are usually a back up / kedge and some people sell them off as surplus. Bowers like a Supreme are hard to come by used.

Re: Manson or rocna
Take a good look at your bow roller the Mason wouldn't fit mine as well as the Rocna, it replaced a Bruce which fit perfectly.

Re: Manson or rocna
The prices on Rocnas in Canada has dropped a couple hundred bucks in the last month. They are priced comparably with the Mansons in the US finally. They may fit better on the bow and, as mentioned, have had lots of negative press this winter.
Depending where you are going, Defender usually has good prices.

Rocna's new slogan: "We think it is probably good enough for you".

Re: Manson or rocna
If you want to do it on the cheap, you can make your own Beugel design anchor. Simply get the design off the internet, cut it out of the metal, and weld it up. I met an Ozzie in New Caledonia who made one for himself and one for his friend. The good thing is that you can make it any weight you want if you make it yourself. You also have the option of using mild steel or high tensile steel. After you cut it out and weld it together, get it hot dip galavanized, and you are good to go for 100,000 miles.
My Beugel is 70 pounds, and it holds like it is glued to the bottom.
I actually had mine built in Australia by a sheet metal shop. Making a Beugel anchor is definitely not rocket science.

That looks like a great price for a 20kg.... where did you find this price? The lowest I could find was $588.
If you are coming to the Western side of Michigan, I have a 35# Manson Supreme I'm looking to sell. I want to upgrade to a 20kg Rocna or Manson.

I always found port to be a bit on the sweet side - especially when in rough storm seas. A spot of rum or Jack for me please.

Not sure if this was directed to me, but my #35 has been in the water a total of three times (they are documented on my blog). It's only been in fresh water, and stored within the boat whenever it wasn't in the water. I'm on a mooring and cannot keep it on the bow as it can cut the mooring lines.
I'm posting it on Craigslist for $300. I purchased it last year from Defender.com for $387 and paid about $45 to ship it. With the good price you can get the Ronca for in Canada, that maybe a better choice for you up there.

Oh no, a good tawny port is just the ticket on a dark and stormy night.
I have been looking for a really great bottle of this;
One of the best I have tasted, but it has become really hard to find....
... made in Australia, not China (just to keep the thread on topic).
