Lofrans x3 gypsy for 10mm ISO G43 CHAIN

Good day to all.

I'm looking to hear from someone who has used a lofrans windlass with G43 chain. Perferrably Titan G43 chain, but let's just see where this goes.

Titan G43 chain has a breaking strength of more than 21000lbs, whereas the ISO G4 from maggie breaks at 16000lbs, and the G4 DIN766 has similar properties.

Steel and Stainless Steel Chains | Titan Marine Products

Maggi group click on "sea chain" on the bottom of the page to download a 10mb pdf, which I can't paste here.

The lofrans site shows a gypsy to fit ISO4565, or DIN766.

10mm DIN 766 chain can have a pitch of 28 or 30mm, and the ISO4565 standard is 30mm. However, it would also appear that "ISO G43" has a 31mm pitch.

If they sell different gypsies for a 2mm difference in pitch, then I'm not sure if 1mm will be a problem (31mm as opposed to 30mm).

So, has anyone used G43, with a lofrans windlass? And, if so, which gypsy did you use?

Thanks.
Paul.

I use 3/8” G43 chain with a Lofrans Tigres windless. I bought a gypsy from Imtra, the parts supplier for Lofrans in the USA. Part #LWP814-3/8PC. Talk to Jim Thomas, Product Manager. He was helpful in selecting the proper gypsy for my chain.

I've called and left a message with his machine. We'll see what transpires. Thanks again.

Re: Lofrans x3 gypsy for 10mm ISO G43 CHAIN

ok.

Jim returned my call right away.

He says that the 10mm ISO is the right gypsy for 3/8 G43 chain. Gypsy number 989B for the x3 model windlass.

That was quick. I hope this short thread helps someone else someday.

Cheers.
Paul.
