Innovative New Anchor Design

The secret couldn't be kept long. Catalina Yachts has come out with a new, innovative anchor design. It's great for the "armchair" sailor, as it has a dual purpose:

**This new anchor design dragged down the harbor today...

PS: The photo of the sky was taken yesterday when a front came through. Very sinister clouds... just shared it for fun.

I was anchored in Marine Stadium in Miami. A powerboat anchored in front me. After a while they looked like they were closer, so I kept an eye on them. Sure enough they were dragging. I called out to them to beware. The owner looked for a couple of minutesm and realized he was dragging.

He fired up, and when he brought in his anchor a huge aluminum rectanglur frame was entangled. They were drifing over my anchor, and he tried to shake the frame off his anchor. I yelled out not to drop it on my rode. He pulled it up, and drove off with it still attatched, and hitting the water, and hull.....LOLOLOLOL

Wow that is an angry looking sky. What did it bring in the end?
I have anchored myself to a large underwater cable. I think it was communications, not power. But it was on the wrong side of the bay, so I suspect someone else had dragged it there. a little disconcerting when a large cable comes up with the anchor.

There are few things more fun than dropping the hook, then pulling up an even better quality anchor than the one you dropped. This happened in Santa Cruz. Dropped a Danforth, hooked a line, and pulled up a CQR when I left.

That brings a whole new meaning to dragging (up a new) anchor.

Since it was on Kittiwake, sailing off the anchor, and pulling by hand, I think I earned it. Need to find a few more anchorages. I still need some gear
