how did you received your mantus anchor ?

hi to all, i am going to buy this anchor internationally shipped, how did you get yours?
was well packed? did the anchor come disassembled?

Ours travelled about 38 miles from the Mantus company in Kemah Tx to the West Marine in Galveston Tx. Came disassembled and very well packed. I’m sure you will have no problem.

I have purchased five Mantus anchors so far: two dinghy anchors, two small boat anchors and a 65lb model for the sailboat (for me and family). All came well packed in wood crates, disassembled.

You should check with Mantus that the crate meets the ISPM standards of the country that it will be sent to. I do not recall if my crate had any solid wood used but if it does then it needs a stamp on it indicating that it meets ISPM15. Plywood is exempt.

I used to make wood pallets and crates and some were used for international. Many countries require this to assure that no forest damaging insects are imported.
I never met anyone that didn't love their Mantus anchor, we sure do.

Excellent point about the wood. I do import/export and if pallets are used it has to be certified non wood or treated wood to eliminate possible invasive insects. If you get a shipment without the certification it could cost you a lot for mandatory inspection, fumigation, repacking and redelivery charges.

I received my 65# Mantus from West Marine in MD. It was packed in a flimsy plywood case that was mostly destroyed. We were fortunate that the light weight bags that held the nuts and bolts were barley hanging on. Aside from that the anchor is FANTASTIC! I agree with Seriously about contacting them about your concerns.

Ordered both of mine from the US to Canada, it's international but not INTERNATIONAL if that makes sense. Both came diassembled and in a wooden flat crate. Well packed to minimize size.

Our 65# came well boxed and blocked inside. (As did the separately shipped bridle, swivel, and chain hook). I used the wood from the box to make a screen door for the companionway! Keeps the muzzies out and the cat in.

Has anyone had a problem with the nuts and bolts rusting I’ve looked at a few of them and they always seem pretty well rusted

We’ve a steel boat. I use a 2 part epoxy for painting. When done if I have any left over I paint the anchor.

You could do the same OR if you don’t want to fuss with expensive / part epoxy then you could paint it with either POR-5 or Petit RustLoc.

Never looked back (because I installed it at the bow?).

And no rust on any bolts yet, after 3 years.
