Swivels are completely unnecessary unless you plan to spin in circles several times a day for weeks on end. If we ever find ourselves in an anchorage where that is likely I’ll put one in. Haven’t needed it in ten years of living on the hook though and I’m glad to not have the extra things to go wrong.
