Ensenada, Mexico Dry Storage?

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know of a dry storage ("on the hard") area in or near Ensenada, Mexico that can stow a 37 foot sailboat? La Paz is too far and not interested in California. The best I could find is Mana Marine but seem to not be in contact as they are not replying to emails or calls. Baja Nava Marina doesn't offer it either. Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Re: Ensenada, Mexico Dry Storage?

I think Baja Naval is the only place to haul out.

Thanks for the reply but.....

From Baja Naval:

"Our boat yard doesn’t do dry storage, they have to be performing at least 8hrs/day.

Rogelio Gregg"

They do haul-out for repairs but I need to store the vessel.

Re: Ensenada, Mexico Dry Storage?

no. there is no long term dry storage in ensenada unless you want to go inland. go to san carlos/guaymas if you wish to haul for long times in mexico. san diego has san diego boat movers and their yard in in el cajon.

sorry to say, you either go a long distance or you get ripped off in san diego. best wishes.

Re: Ensenada, Mexico Dry Storage?

There is a small railway lift just north of Baja Naval, next to Bandidos as I recall that can pull a boat and store it if they are still there. Been a few years since I've been down that way but if you're in the area, check it out. Also, I recall another storage spot next to the fish market... sorry can' t remember names. Additionally, there is an area north of Marina Coral where the commercial fishermen dock occasionally and there used to be a couple of larger fishboats in dry storage there. Hope that helps... the rest of the harbor would require work to be performed, I'm afraid. Check with some local but be careful of security if you are going to leave a vessel on the hard there any period of time. Good luck, Phil

Cruiseport Village does have a dry storage area but no travel lift or trailer or anything. You'd need your own stands and to hire a crane to lift you up. What you're looking for isn't in Ensenada, it's in the SF Bay and the Gulf of California.

Re: Ensenada, Mexico Dry Storage?

I think you're right, Zee... there was an old Transpac 49 that I used to own that was being worked on about 15 years ago. Was moved to the new Cruiseport after work was completed so I know the ways was operating in the late 90's. Used to deliver a lot of boats back and forth to Ensenada from SoCal for the 90 Day Yacht Club and always picked up fish to take home from the mercado next door. Hope you're enjoying your cruise in Mexico... cheers, Phil

Re: Ensenada, Mexico Dry Storage?

is awesome here--i am contemplating a trip to mazatlan after my engine is repaired so i can haul there and do some things i need to leave boat to do to this pooor old lady -- bubba and i have friends to abuse there..err, stay with...err......who have a small guest apartment in centro for my use, and bubba's, so we wouldnt have to worry about any thing but food, litter and yard fees.....ohpoo--and paint...and parts...lol

my boat work should take less than a week to be finished once i go there---so isnt a bad deal, actually-- i do not know the price for real people's boats....

cpt phil--that ways in ensenada now is only long enough to build and launch a fishing boat....and ye can watch as they work--

I was faced with the same question and problem a couple of years ago in Ensenada. What I did saved me allot of money in the long run: I put my boat on a trailer and then stored it at a local storage facility for just $50 a month! But the price might be a little more now since it was a couple of years back.
I am in Ensenada now, and if you need help, just ask.
