All anchors are good! Some anchors are better! No anchor is perfect!

My personal experience is that a Bruce is better then a CQR. A 30kg Bruce is better then a 20kg Bruce. In fact, the 30kg Bruce was "perfect" every time it was used.

Anchoring is mostly about using the "good" gear you have correctly. The rest is about when in doubt - set an anchor watch.

I agree too...the anchor is nothing if you are trying to moor at the wrong place, with the wrong scope, etc....

Our boat is equipped with a CQR that works well, and a danforth as a backup, it was bought by the previous owner.

I always keep an eye while being at anchor and never trust it 100%.

Apparently the new designs (through various and numerous tests in sailing magazines) are showing an holding power and re-setting capability much better than the CQR, most of the time.

The new designs holding power is between 2 to 3 times higher than the CQR according the test apparently...

Next time we will change the anchor, we will go for a Delta, because we know it fit in the davit and it shows good performance in the tests, also because the supplier / manufacturer is well renown.

Otherwise, the Wasi / Rocna would be preferred as the desing in simple and obvious, but it does not fit in our davit, otherwise it would be our first choice.

For the time being we will carry on with the CQR and no frustration, as we are aware of its limits and capacities, we manage accordingly.
