Need to tighten the capstan plate to engage the clutch disk for higher loads.
Can loosen it to "free fall" the chain in a controlled manner.

If tightening the cap doesn't do enough, then you may need to replace the disk. For an interim fix, if the disk is glazed, sand it lightly and make sure the surface of the gyspy/wildcat is clean/free of grease. If the disk is torn or worn enough that the retaining screws are coming through, then the disk should be replaced.

We made ours last time as we weren't too happy w/the Schaefer disk they sent (the holes for the set screws didn't line up). They did eventually send an undrilled disk, but that was a pain to drill and countersink due to the rubbery nature of the material.
We went w/a firmer friction disk material that we sized/drilled to fit and seems to work fine.
The G4 (Ideal #) disk had the following dimensions:
O.D = 6.375"
I.D. = 4.375"
thickness = 0.25"

If your capstan has not been disassembled in a while, the capstan may be difficult to remove. Do not use a pry bar to lift it off, it will damage the wildcat surface. Try a rubber mallet to hit up on the capstan to loosen it. (a wood piece w/ a hammer as an alternative).
