Sailorman in Ft Lauderdale has a huge stock of this type of equipment. Probably one of your better chances for parts.

My manufacterers manual calls mine a Nilsson Vertical Anchor Windlass.

Seems theres lots of vertical windlasses out there.
And here are the many horizontal capstans.

However, the dictionary definition does agree with Astrid. Perhaps it is a term which has lost it's definition in the manufacturing world?
