Can anyone identify this windlass brand?

Saw this photo in cruising world april 2013. I like the fact that the chain doesn't drop down but stays on deck. Can anyone identify the make or know of something similar?Click image for larger version

It's a capstan, not a windlass. And the chain appears to slide down into a locker, not stay on deck. Don't know the brand.

It is a vertical capstan windlass. Looks like it might be a Lofrans.

It may be a Muir, I have a horizontal Muir cougar and it's been very dependable.

It's not a Muir, the name on the top has more letters, if someone has software to give the photo better definition, you can probably read what it is.

It MIGHT be a Maxwell. They manufacture a windlass that piles up on deck instead of feeding below through a hawse pipe.

They have several models that might serve you. Go to their website and check Maxwellmarine.com

Re: Can anyone identify this windlass brand?

If your interest in the windlass is due to the chain not dropping through a hole down into locker but staying in a bin just under deck, that is really a function of the design of the boat and chain locker more than the design of the machinery.

You could accomplish the same thing with most if not all vertical capstans/windlasses by the construction of the chain locker.

If you use a magnifying glass it appears to be a Lewmar!

I'd say Lewmar as well, it's got the Lewmar dimples.
It seems set up weirdly though.
