Buying line direct from New England Ropes
I'm looking to get a new set of docking lines and want 5/8 inch, double braided nylon at 30ft (bow and stern) and 50 feet (springs). I can't find those lengths in stores/online stores (WM, Defender, Great Lake Skipper) and I can't seem to find a link on New England Ropes site for buying directly from them. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Re: Buying line direct from New England Ropes
Defender has 5/8" nylon double braid for sale by the foot. Just order however many feet you need and cut them yourself.

I use Cajun Rope Co. in Canada for dock lines, halyards.

Re: Buying line direct from New England Ropes
If you compare the price per foot for rope versus what Cajun charges it is almost five times the materiel cost to have them splice it up. Same goes for pre-spliced dock lines as well though.

Seems to me NER ropes usually come in 15, 25, 35, and 50 standard lengths.
I believe WM-branded ropes are NER.

Re: Buying line direct from New England Ropes
I order line by the spool, usually 600 feet. Or by the foot. Either way it is reasonable. Fisheries Supply in Seattle ships anywhere. If price is not important, then disregard this.

Also, Rigging Only in Mass. is a NER supplier and generally has reasonable prices. Or try APS.

Re: Buying line direct from New England Ropes
Probably an OK places, but Rope Inc doesn't even list prices. And Cajun Ropes made me add it to my shopping cart to find the price. ($68 plus shipping for one 30' line.)

Re: Buying line direct from New England Ropes
Sail Care has Novabraid XLE line for $1.39 and $2.03 per foot for 5/8". Never bought line from them, but have gotten tons of blocks and stuff from them, never had an issue.

I also recommend Rigging Only, Fairhaven, MA. They will cut to length and splice as requested. Price is the lowest on NER around and they ship every where.

West Marine usually has amazing deals on dock lines every spring.
