Bow Stem for O'day 40

Im looking for a bow stem for an O'day 40.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to find one? Rudy at D and R marine had a nice stainless one on the shelf for 5 years but as luck would have it recently sold it and doesn't know how to find another.
The jeanneau sun fizz 39 and O'day 39 and 40 are all identical.

Thanks,
Rob

Brings up a good question in general. Where does one find lightly used parts for “ classic “ boats ? Where do all the old boats go once they’re junked?

What do you mean by "bow stem"? Not a term I'm familiar with.

I will take a photo and post tomorrow.

It is an aluminum plate over the hull deck joint at the bow which incorporates the anchor roller and leads for bow lines to bow cleats.

I always start at Minney's for stuff like that, don't know if there's something similar where you are, you could always call them and send a picture, could get lucky. I think "stem Head" is also a term used.

Then search thru rigrite's catalog to see if there's a match or more info anyway.

Call or text Joe Cintron 617-407-2953. I think he had a 40 for parts a while back.

The best source for O'Day parts is Rudy Nickerson at D & R Marine. Rudy was the materials manager for O'Day.

Thank you for this, I found Rudy years ago, great guy and very helpful but not this time. He had a stainless one sitting for years but sold it recently and had no leads on a new one.

Re: Bow Stem for O'day 40

I might add that on our last boat - an O'day 34, the aluminum bow plate had begun to separate where the headstay was pinned. I had a complete new assembly made from stainless using the old one as a pattern. I am not sure where you are, but you might find a local tool and die or fab shop that could make one.

Re: Bow Stem for O'day 40

Thanks, I may have to do that. As always, time is the issue. Almost time to head south. Going to boat tomorrow to take photos and closely examine removal.
Cheers, Rob
Have not heard back from Joe.
