Bob Stays and Anchors

We are having a problem, Tivoli has a bow sprint with a bob stay. We recently purchased a Manson Supreme, this anchor is much wider than our old CQR. The problem is raising and lowering the anchor past the stay. I am using a boat hook to pull the anchor as it reaches the stay then it is ok, same going down. I have a manual windlass that allows me to lower it slowly to get past the stay while holding it out. This works ok, but not sure how it will be in chop trying to anchor or if my wife had to do it. I suppose I could also attach a lead to the anchor with a float, that might also work, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I have already had to slighty modify the platform to accomodate the shank.

you might consider installing a self-launch bowroller

e.g. Anchorlift has models for bowplank installation

Bow rollers

That is not going to help get past the bobstay. It is a problem Mike that does not have a real solution on the Mariner. An option might be to install a set of anchor rollers like the ones on the Tayana 37 that are mounted on the outside edge of the bow platform. This will move the rollers a bit further out from the stay.
