Anyone know about a Klaxon windlass motor?

Hi Everyone,
Trying to diagnose the problem with my windlass motor, established I have power all the way to the brushes in the motor. I'm wondering if I have to replace it or, just the brushes or other aspects? Alternatively in there a replacement motor, that can be had?

Hard to tell from the photo, but it appears that the motor armature commutator is very dirty. Cleaning it with sandpaper / replacing the brushes may do the trick. How are the bearings?

You might take it to an auto electric (starter) shop, for evaluation, and likely repair.
