Besides, it's free anchoring, plenty of fish, scollops and Mussels and if yer keen enough, Crayfish as well. If you get sick of that, there are wild Deer, Pig and Goats to be had. If you are into cute furry animals, especially with a good sorce, then Rabbit and Possum are literally everwhere. Please take as many as you can.
OK, expect bombardments with Photo's of amazing scenery soon. ;-) :-)
Wild deer, pig, goats and other cute furry animals and no guns. Do you beat them to death with some sort of non weapon?

Hi!

In croatia, there is no problem with anchoring in general. There are also many places where you can moor your boat to a dead weight public mooring, but you have to pay a small fee, depending on boat lenght.

It makes the entire British leisure boating fraternity boil, but why doesn't the British government do what the rest of Europe does when it doesn't like a new EU directive and ignore it. Probably because it is another form of backdoor taxation. (buoy, am I getting cynical in my old age)

Anchored off Friday Harbor, Washington State

We're from Austria, currently cruising Eastern Pacific. Washington State (USA) offered anchorages off most islands and (if you stay out of Seattle) in most harbors - and all of it free, free, free. We laid over on anchor in the Port Townsend / Port Hadlock area for two months doing repairs with never a question asked or even a visit from local gendarmes. Lovely area, with good support infrastructure. Low-cost public transit, but most of what we needed was found within walking distance of a dinghi tie-up. James & Gabriele aboard sv Mariane

The pacific Northwest has thousands of good free anchorages, especially North of the 49th and breath taking scenery. No real crowds either, good fishing, etc.

Don't go to Corpus Christi, Texas and try to anchor inside the breakwatwer without paying the "City" $15.00 a day. Oh... you want to use the bathroom and showers? That's extra!
