Anchor Cable Diameter?

I have a 63' steel fishing vessel with a 300 lb anchor and a large drum winch capable of holding about 600' of steel cable. I'm told that a 100 mph wind will exert a pull of about 25000 lbs which tells me I need either 5/8 galv or 1/2 SS cable tied to 20' of heavy chain on the anchor. I also have a stern anchor with the same setup.
Any comments or suggestions?

Yes, don't use SS wire for a start.
Most commercial fishos here of that size would be running a 14mm (7/16"), some only a 1/2". All use steel, usually galvanised but not always. One swapped to Amsteel SK75 rope just before Xmas. Sick of the mess he says. Cost him moonbeams though.

Don't know if that helps, I hope so.

Can anyone suggest a good quality cable lubricant?

Thanks GMac
just what I needed to hear. I went out yesterday to a steel wire supply house out on rt 90 and got a good price on 1/2 galv 88c/ft. I'm going with 350 on the bow and just 150 on the stern as I don't plan on anchoring out in deep water and the stern is just for tight spots and rivers.
