Yamaha F8 stalls but restarts immediately
My Yamaha F8 stalls out when I give it gas, but it can be restarted immediately with 2 or 3 pulls.
I cleaned the carb.
Jets looked clean.
I cleaned the fuel pump it gave up a bit of discolored fluid as I sprayed it out with carb cleaner. The check valves seemed a little dirty too.
I replaced the engine end of my fuel line as the gasket had a tear.
After all that I still have the same problem. Any ideas?
Thanks!

I would be looking at the jets and cleaning them properly

Re: Yamaha F8 stalls but restarts immediately
Check for a good seal between the carb and the intake manifold,,if you have a leak there it will act like your description.

Sounds like fouling from gas with ethanol that sat around. Get fresh gas. Replace the filter. Take the carburetor to a shop that will put the whole thing in an ultrasonic cleaner.

Hmm... Would I have a gas leak if that was the case?

I do not suspect the fuel. It's not old and it's running fine in my generator. But I did think about that too.

Re: Yamaha F8 stalls but restarts immediately
Does it run well at full throtle if you ease into it (not quick acceleration)?
If so, a weak accelerator pump.

Well, thanks everyone for the assistance, but today the darn thing works fine. I'm going to chalk it up to a air bubble or something. We'll see how it goes I guess.
Thanks again!

Re: Yamaha F8 stalls but restarts immediately
My guess is still dirt caught in the slow speed jet in the carburetor. I'm guessing it is a 4-stroke, and that means those passages are tiny! If there is any restriction at all your fuel mixture will be off. Sometimes I have had to clean the carb more than once because some teensy piece of crud relodged in there. Absolutely need a fuel filter between the tank and the engine if you have a 4-stroke.

It sounds like the off idle ports are plugged.

Well, yesterday fine. I left the tank hooked up last night.
Today, can't pull the starter.
I unhooked the tank, drained the carb, pulled the starter a few times with the run switch off and throttle wide open to drain everything.
Put it all back together and it fired right up...
Confused...

Re: Yamaha F8 stalls but restarts immediately
To clean the carb, you must disassemble it and soak it in carb cleaner at least four hours and preferably overnight. I know it looks good after spraying it out with carb cleaner but it needs to be soaked.
