Wind Vane for an Island Packet

Hi all-

I am in the process of researching windvanes for an IP38 and would like to hear opinions and experiences with the various types. I understand that there are two general types: the auxiliary rudder (Hydrovane) and the servo-pendulum (Cape Horn, Sailomat & Self Steer).

Can anyone recommend one type or one brand over the others, especially with an IP38 equipped with solar panels and a wind generator?

All comments are welcome.

Thank you.

Re: Wind Vane for an Island Packet

We've got a Cap Horn on our allied seawind II. I really like it, it's neat and clean, and if you've got an unusual situation such that you need the wind part above some solar panels, they can custom build a tower for you.
