What is this for ?
When wandering past a boat yard in Wollongong, we spotted this on the back of a yacht.

Why mount it so low ? What is it for ?

Looks like a home made skene chock. It might be for towing a dinghy. I considered doing the same but with a screw ring.

Wollongong harbour has fore and aft moorings - maybe that is a way to stop chafe on the protruding transom.

It's a fairlead for something that leads off the transom. It could be used for a number of things.
