Weaver Davits and Beneteaus

Does anyone have experience using Weaver davits on the stern of the new Beneteau line? Previous forum discussions point out that Weaver Industries discourages use of their davit system on sailboats. Apparently the dinghy may come in contact with water when healed over.
Thanks, Todd

Ive used them on Mobo's , Becuase of the need to be able to connect on with the dinghy in the water, they are by design, low down, Then the weight causes them to sag ( or rather the tubes to sag). I can see why they are not neccessaryily a good idea for sailboats. If you can get the "davits" up high enough sure, but it makes connecting up the dinghy a pretty tiresome job.

I've used the on a hunter 30 and I just installed Weaver Snap Ups on our née Catalina 320 MK II. They work great.

mukilteomaniac,

Do you have problems with the dinghy overhanging the sides and catching water when your Catalina is heeled over?

No not at all. I installed Weaver Snap Ups with the Quick Kit, so I remove them when we are not using our dinghy. Real slick. We sailed the Pacific Ocean over the last 2 years out of San Diego. Big swell and all, the dinghy does not touch the water when heeled. We move the boat to Seattle and sail Puget Sound and the Islands. Again, the Weaver sanp ups work great.ps. They allow me to raise the boat 12" from the water level. I have a brand new Achillies 10'-3" LSI Inflatable. It works great and was significantly less expensive than Garhauer davits and also a lot more elegant of a solution.

Hardshell ...

We have a hardshell dink and this is what it looks like on the stern of our Beneteau 352.

I can't say it has ever made contact with the water while sailing.
