Usex Apex Hypalon or new Mercury PVC?

I need to purchase a dinghy for a 2 year trip to the Bahamas/Caribbean. I need a dinghy that will last for just two years. What would you prefer...a used Apex Hypalon slat floor rollup or a new Mercury PVC air floor rollup? Assume both boats are the same size 8'.

We have a Mercury Hypalon airdeck. I wouldn't buy another Mercury product again. But that's me. Nothing huge, just a whole lot of crappy little things.

What engine will you be using? Slat floors do not motor (or row) very well and are generally not a very friendly dinghy to cruise with. However, I may be misunderstanding what you mean by "slat floor" - I am thinking of those with spaced wooden slats with fabric between.

On the other hand, unusable, but rather new-looking Mercury dinghies litter the junk piles everywhere we go...

I ended up with a 2000 Apex hypalon rib with 4hp 4stroke Suzuki. I believe the rib alone weighs about 100 lbs...perfect for my small davits.
