Suzuki 7.5 Water Impeller Replacement

Hi,

Not many of these were made but I'm wondering if anyone here has replaced the water pump impeller in one.

I put the motor in forward and have managed to get the gear case to separate from the main shaft housing and drop about 1". It seems to be stuck at this point.

There is no cover on the side to disconnect the shifting mechanism and there doesn't seem to be anything on the top of the gear case to disconnect the lever ("C"-clip or screw).

I purchased a manual for this motor but the only instructions on removing the gear case is to remove the 4 nuts securing it to the shaft housing. I'd rather not start beating on the gear case with a hammer since the 1" drop happened very easily once the gasket seal was broken. After the 1" drop, it is very solid like something has reached the end of it's travel.

Any ideas or suggestions would be more than welcome.

Thanks,

Frank

If your Suzuki is anything like the smaller Honda outboards you may have to unscrew the connection on top of the shift shaft where it connects to the shift lever. The Japanese like to do strange things with their outboards.
