Smartwave 2400 as a tender

Hi,

Is anyone familiar with these newzealand made plastic boats. I've recently had one arrive and it seems great. But I've not had it in the water yet.

Any feedback from anyone.

good to row but need 2 on board, row from the bow as leg room is restricted in the stern area, when rowing watch wash from other boats as it can finish on board, the boat putts along with a small outboard quite well and takes 2 + a fair bit of gear,the drain on the transom is good and the boat drains with very little propulsion if you happen to get water on board, stepping off the bow is not recommended try entering and exiting from the sides or you will have issues.
the seat locker is handy to store rope anchor etc . only stand up in the rear section of the boat as it becomes unstable the nearer to the bow.

It is a tender but not mine ,a mate owns it but i have used it a fair bit, it has a habit of tipping out blokes pissed if you stand up at the bow, (don't ask how i know)

So much for the advertising which shows two guys standing on the side. One of the reasons I purchased thus was because it was meant to be so stable.

it is stable in flatfish water, so long as the 1st person that leaves is from the bow, the bow becomes unstable with a lot of weight forward but is ok with the last person off from the mid section and reverse getting in, always makes me wonder how they get the adds so good, walker bay also show something that i can't get to work with their stability, we are over 100kg's so that is obviously a factor, but you will be going to stand 2 on the side with anything but flat water,my new tender is a oceancraft aluminium inflatable on this several blokes can stand on one side ,but this is a different concept.

it will do what they say i guess its just that you will need to test it with different types of conditions and loads, i wouldn't expect it would be easy in a big chop though, although it motors easily into a beach with 2-3 ft waves and does not broach. i have not used this boat in anything like a chop though it has always been sheltered waters( 2 men standing on the side is not as much load as one heavy guy trying to step onto it from the bow after all it is a small boat and i think it is possibly better than most)

Great dinghy used one up the pacific stable and they row well coral doesnt worry them,I have a 2.2 metre plastic mac dinghy very similar.Only downside is they are heavy.

Mine is 60kg. I haven't tried it yet. Having a devil of a job working out how to pull it up under my pushpit.

I lift mine onto my foredeck with my staysail halyard from the bow then gently lower it onto deck.to launch it I just throw it over the side you cant hurt them.
