Smallest compressor for diving
Hi, I´ve been looking for a while for really small diving compressor, which I could easily use on my boat. I´ve found a few (Bauer, Bavaria, Coltri, etc.), but still too big for my needs.
I´m looking for one, which would be single phase 230 VAC, motor maximum 1 kW. Charging rate is realy not important, 20 litres / min is sufficient enough for me.
Thank you for ANY recommendation, any information
Ales

Look at the airetex 45.
Airetex, High, Pressure, Breathing Air, Compressor, - Created by, ASW Studios - Eagle, Mako, Max-Air / Coltri, Star compressor parts and filters, Hyperfilters, Continuous, blending, Nitrox, systems, Fire, Scuba, Paintball Industries, High pressure br
I just purchased one for my boat, which will fill an AL 80 in about 20 minutes. Costs depending on configuration ~$3500. Waaaay cheaper than Brownies, et al.
Lots of Fire Depts and Police dive/recovery teams use them, so I believe they have a very good reputation and are reliable.

Re: Smallest compressor for diving
most of the divers in SF now use the small home depot units
they have a round air tank and run on 110 seems all they need is the hose and regulator

Re: Smallest compressor for diving
Have a look on line for the brand name Hooka , I got one , came with 2/ 100 ft hoses with the demand valves , but it's 12 volt , 2 clips for battery connection .
I use it to keep the bottom clean , it cost me AU $ 999.00 three years ago .

Obviously you're not getting your message across.
Seems clear to me, you want a compressor to fill SCUBA diving tanks, NOT a hookah or other surface supply unit with a hose attached to a small, low pressure compressor on the surface.

Might be worth a look. Please post what you actually find as I will be in the same market in a year or so.
Thanks,

Re: Smallest compressor for diving
Kolouch, what is the upper limit for weight and size that you have in mind? I, too, would like a tank-fill compressor, but the same issues confront me regarding the total mass of the unit and the energy requirements to actually compress gases that high.

Re: Smallest compressor for diving
Sometimes the forum can be frustrating. The OP was very clear in stating that the search is for a compressor to fill SCUBA tanks - bottles. NOT hookas.
I would be keen to hear from folks posting about a small compressor to fill SCUBA tanks, as well.
Not for hookas. SCUBA tanks.

Re: Smallest compressor for diving
I don't think you will find one that only pulls 1000W, Best plan I believe is to get one with a gasoline motor, bigger than what I think you want, but what other options are there?
Be really nice if someone built a 1 CFM 5,000 PSI compressor, but I'm not aware of one.

Actually, most of them don't. Most of them (not all) use compressors far better suited for use in a hookah. The Home Depot specials aren't really up to the task of light commercial use in a marine environment.

Re: Smallest compressor for diving
Everyone thinks you want a dive rig, here is some COMPRESSOR information:
I have a Utilis 10, which I have had for 20 years. (has it been that long?) I carried it around the world on a sailboat, and have had it on two other sailboats, it is not that large, fits in a sail locker and runs off a 220v 1phz motor, it is easy to put a gas motor on as well. I have had ZERO problems with it, just change the oil and filters occasionally. It will fill a 100cf/12.9 ltr bottle in about 18 minutes to 3300psi -225 bar . The only thing is you have to monitor it and bleed the moisture valves about every 10 minutes, just open and close 3 valves.

Re: Smallest compressor for diving
Oh, and instead of an aluminum 80 tank, look at a HP steel 80, much smaller and lighter and actually slightly more gas.
