Replacing Cruisair A/C

My very old Cruisair 16,000 BTU system needs a new compressor. Given its age I'm going to replace it.

Is there a better unit out there other than the MarineAir (which will not fit)?

Is the Webasto a better choice? How easy is the swap?

I know I need to change from the 3 dial control to a new digital control no matter which way I go.

Webasto is the way I went, mostly due to cost. It seems to be a quality piece of equipment, and works exceptionally well. The thermostat will almost certainly not fit the old hole, but as you already have all the hard parts done it’s an easy swap. The hardest may be carrying the thing down the companionway.
We’ve had ours for I think five years now and no issues so far

Flagship Marine makes a great unit and you are not forced to buy their controller, any 4 wire thermostat will work even the new wifi enabled ones.

Which "MarineAir"? Marine Airrrr? Or Marine Aire? Or which model?

FWIW, we recently replaced a Marine Airrrrr 16K BTU Vector Compact with a Dometic Turbo DTU16. Before Dometic acquired Marine Airrrr the new one was called a Vector Turbo, and meant as a drop-on replacement for the VC -- with some good improvements. The new one seemed smaller, but I didn't measure...

Dometic bought both the Cruisair and MarineAir brands some years ago. Their website is confusing but this is the MarineAir that I have and been happy with. It might fit.

Just to highlight the different trade-names... Dometic acquired Marine Air Systems (Marine Airrrrr)... not Marine Aire, which is a different company...
