Pur Survivor 06

I have a Pur Survivor 06 that I inherited with my boat. Date of manufacture was 5/96. It appears to have been used. I opened it up and the membrane was there.
Can these be refurbished for a reasonable price and where?

Re: Pur Survivor 06

I understand it is a pretty simple DIY job. Parts readily available from Defender. Full rebuild including diaphragm would be a few hundred.

I would test it before spending the money as I understand that when properly pickled and stored the diaphragm can last for years.

I do not think I want to trust myself with a survival item. Is there someplace to send them.

I'm almost positive you'll spend more money on parts and labor than the thing is worth to have it done. Besides if you rebuild it yourself you'll be familiar with it if you need it.

Google Katadyn. They make and refurbish the PUR Survivor water makers.

Re: Pur Survivor 06

The option does, or did, exist to send the unit to Katadyn. Six weeks was their quoted turnaround time. As Skipmac has suggested, these units if stored properly last for years. Before going the rebuild route, test it. If it still works as designed, pickle it again. If not, then pursue the rebuild option.
