Porta-Bote on davits

Has anyone had any experience with putting a Porta-Bote on Weaver davits? I have a Camano 31 & don't have room on the boat to put the Porta-Bote together. I have Weaver Snap davits on the swim platform & an 8' Porta-Bote. Thanks for any help.

Re: Porta-Bote on davits

Can't say about the davits, but I have had good luck assembling my 8' porta strung vertically from the halyard, then stowed for cruising along the stanchions. I've about decided that whether it's dinghies, davits, fold ups or roll up inflatables there is no perfect solution for boats our size. That being said, I wouldn't see any challenges to suspending a Porta on Davits.

Welcome fellow Camano owner! I call mine a 31 when I'm bragging but a 28 when paying for dockage. Mt documentation says it's 28' long.

I'm assuming the portabote would be on its side on the davits and the only problem I can think of is strain on the seats. It might help to put the assembly stick in place to help with the load.

BTW: I have seen portabotes carried vertically on a swim platform resting on the transom. Of course you would have to remove the motor.
