On my 1980 Hatteras 37 Convertible (picture attached)
I have the Weaver Marine dinghy
securing brackets on my dinghy
and the "slip on locking" on the swim platform. I really like it. it is easy to secure the dinghy, and lift
it up from the water
The challenge I have is manhandling the 8HP Mercury outboard engine
in and out of the dinghy, so I am looking at options to solve this problem. Currently it is secured lying on the swim platform and I have to lift
it by hand and lower on to the dinghy and back on the swim platform. Apart from potentially damaging my back, i can lose the outboard
in the dink as well.....
Simplest I guess would be separate Outboard lifting davit, something similar to what Garhauer Marine
have. Garhauer Marine Hardware -10348505
and I am sure there are others (please suggest). My concern is how secure are these lifting davits
to leave the outboard engine
suspended at all times? Perhaps securing it to the davit itself to prevent swinging in the seaway is one way of doing it.
Since I already have the dinghy securing arrangement so I am not keen on installing the dinghy davits
that are usually capable of lifting the dinghy and the outboard secured on its transom.
What are others doing with their outboard engines??
