Mounting points on a Walker Bay 10' dingy
Hi All, I want to mount our Walker Bay Dingy on the davits off the stern of our Tri Star 38' Trimaran so I can haul it out of the water when not in use. Does any one know where on the Walker bay I should mount the hardware to attache the lines to pull the boat out of the water? The area by the seats seems not strong enough.

You replace some of the 1/4-20 bolts in the seats with 1/4-20 eye bolts.

I have the 8' version, which i realise is a lot lighter but i think the theory still holds true. You want two eye-bolts or U-bolts on the transom (inside is best but it doesn't really matter) and one at the bow.

Thanks so much, I did not realize those were lift points. This will help a lot. Also I am looking around for the tube kit any suggestions on where I might find a better deal than the $649 sticker price?

Well now, that depends on how cheap you want to go! My 'tube kit' consists of some large pool noodles zip-tied around the gunwhales :-)

Regardless of which Walkerbay plastic hull you have 8' or 10' If you value your life do not be cheap and buy the grey heavy duty tube, After tax here in Canada it was almost $800. and we have survived numerous tanked up on beer and booze power boaters passing us with both engines on full throttle. without that tube we would have been swamped and sunk in their wake!

Re: Mounting points on a Walker Bay 10' dingy
I bought an 8ft. Walker Bay, for a dingy, when I bought my boat. After being turned turtle a couple times when beaching it, I sewed some Sunbrella tubes up that held the pool Noodles for the full length of the walker bay. That stopped that. They have plenty of flotation to allow me to climb my old fat gut over the side without swamping the boat. Since I sailed it a lot for fun, it was nice to have the sides have some flotation when hanging out over the side. Mac

Re: Mounting points on a Walker Bay 10' dingy
Yea the pool noodles work. They're not as buoyant as the tubes and you don't get much in terms of added stability but it means the boat doesn't turn turtle if it gets swamped and you don't need to bother with fenders to stop it scraping against the hull. I like the idea of sewing up some sunbrella covers. At the moment i have to replace the noodles every 6 months or so because they get degraded by the sun and then become waterlogged and fall apart.
