Mecrury 9.8 hp outboard,, 60lbs !!

This seems like a great outboard for a 8 or 9 foot RIB ,

Wow !!!! Is it ever light!!!! 60lbs for almost 10 hp.

Can't wait to get it on the dinghy.

Has anybody had any experience with this good old motor ??

Regards

Yes, my experience is that 60 pounds comes damn heavy when chucking the thing from the dinghy to the stern rail!

Maybe I'm getting old, but I'm thinking of giving up the idea of going out with a nice girl and getting a weightlifter instead.

Great outboard, though

Re: Mecrury 9.8 hp outboard,, 60lbs !!

I tell you one thing, I carry my girlfriends new Yamaha 9.9 4 stroke every spring out of the shed and down to the boat. Let me tell you 60 lbs is a lot lighter then the 100 lbs plus, which the Yamy weights . Some body fix my back after that.

Hey did any manufacturer ever make I lighter 9.9/9.8 then the Merc??? Hmmm I wonder.

Regards

Actually, Mercury made a lighter engine years ago. Don't remember the exact weight.

They had a 25 HP Super Hurricane made for F-class 3-point hydroplanes, 8'.. You could put the housing of an 8HP on the engone..
