Answering for Ann: We build "chaps" (a term that is meaningless to me) from Weathermax. After a whopping two months usage, all is well. See attached photo for details.

I just purchased a inexpensive dingy to replace my old AB. Just over $600 PVC with aluminum floor, oars...made in China. Using in Southern California have no idea how long it will last with dive gear being pulled into it and heavy use and sun but I'll find out

"Chaps" on the tubes is the way to go. I purchased a PVC dinghy, wife made chaps for it, and 8 years later when we sold it, it still looked new under the chaps. Forget, inflating, deflating and storing. That gets old quickly. Chaps out of sunbrella (or comparable) will make everything easy.
