How to flush dink outboard???
Local evinrude dealer says they stopped making a flush attachment for my 6hp 1996 model. They suggested a bucket. Get real. can't use mickey mouse ears. it has the pickup under the cavitation plate in a small corner....hard to get to. Ideas appreciated

Using a bucket isn't all that hard. Get yourself a 5-gallon bucket and you'll be able flush without much fuss as long as you keep the engine in neutral.

Sure. I've used a food grade bucket on a rubber mat. Just pick a quiet day.

Can't use a bucket because I have a different type davit system as seen here
http://www.dinghy-tow.com/
The outboard is tilted up behind the transom. Wonder why the geniuses at evinrude didn't make out suitable for ear muffs

I have a dinghy tow as well. Love it. Can't you hoist the engine (and transom) out of the water and then hang the bucket off the engine somehow? Our of the transom? square bucket might work better

Can you even run the engine in that position?!?!
I just clamp the outboard onto the stern rail and start it with a hose spraying into the intake. A little messy, but I don't do it all that often either.

Re: How to flush dink outboard???
A 6hp is not that hard to lift on deck and then you can use a bucket with it standing up. Not that hard IMHO, done it myself with a 5hp Yamaha.

Yes, when you're in the "towing" position, the engine runs just fine. That's how I flush mine. The engine never leaves the transom of the dinghy.

Thx for input. Guess I'll try a square bucket. Now the trick is pulling..er....pushing that pull cord from behind to get it started. Hey cwyckham....any advise for a new user? How the heck do you get rainwater out of the bow? Thx

Re: How to flush dink outboard???
If the motor has a flush screw, just get an aluminum tube turned up with a thread one end and a hose-barb on the other...

Attach the main halyard to the bow line. Hoist vertical. Tie bow line to end of boom. Engine stays in place.
No more rain water
