Honda 2hp Tilt Latch

Not the greatest engineered part. It seems to require excessive and constant lubrication. And even then it doesn't work great.

Has anyone replaced theirs or modified it to work any better?
Or do you just keep a pair of pliers in the dink at all times?
Or have you come up with another DIY method for keeping the motor up?

I had the same problem. You need to remove the fitting and enlarge the hole with a drill or file then lubricate with lanoline grease or similar product.
Basically a good motor but has some corrosion problems.

I use it in fresh water and am ashamed to say I don't even know if it has a zinc...does it? And where?

(Yes, I haven't used it a lot since I got it, maybe five times on the Portabote which I prefer to row).

Re: Honda 2hp Tilt Latch

Thanks! I've been going with the pliers solution up until now. Funny thing is, it does seem to be a little looser.
